Text Alignment[]

I like how this is looking! However, I find myself drawn to left-aligning the text. To me, it seems to flow better with the standard designs, helps scan through titles better (always in the same spot and size, regardless of title length) and, oddly, gives me a 'professional' feel when I see it.

But, what do you think? Is most content in a center-alignment standard? Does it just look better centered?

I was just thinking of setting it off from the actual page header, so it looked a little less like a duplicate (which was also my thinking in using a serif font), but I think I agree with your points about left aligning.
I was just doing some initial noodling here; with css almost any detail here can be changed: text and box colors, or no box, or....the possibilities are almost endless, so let me know what direction you'd like to take it, or go to town on it yourself. :) is a good resource if you haven't played with CSS before. — Catherine o' the ComTeam 03:40, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
I'll definitely take a look at the CSS info. Thanks for the link!
I see what you're saying about trying to separate it, stylistically, from the standard page headers. The box is a great help with that. (I saw that you uploaded an image earlier and just a few minutes ago I was scratching through Google trying to find some way to make that a background image for the box; alas, I don't think it's possible.) What about changing the font of the text in the box? By keeping black, bold, and different we can hope to catch more eyes with it than the standard page heading.

Yes, we should be able to use a background image using "background-image: url(Oldpaper.gif);" within the style definition, but it didn't quite work right for me. Just need to work out how much more of an URL we need for the image.

Fonts should be kept simple, since they're dependent on what fonts a user has on their machine. Just the "serif" font that we're using is probably sufficient.

BTW, here's a quick reference for color names, for backgrounds, borders and font colors: o' the ComTeam 04:37, 2 April 2007 (UTC)

Fiddled with it a bit, added a background image in MediaWiki:Common.css. --Splarka (talk) 04:54, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
