Mel and Meebles Comic 1

Comic 1

It had to be a trick of the light, the way his eyes twinkled like that. Sunset, that's what it was.

Melicela knew better than to trust that little gnome's babble at sundown, when her eyes fell droopy from a full meal. Hell, he was prone to half-truths that he simply LOVED to spout even when everyone was wide awake. Half-truths, un-truths, that's right, Melicela, don't believe a crazy word from that buggy. Here he is, talking his pink-haired head off.

Problem was, Melicela, it's starting to sound right in the head, make sense. This won't do. Everyone knows you take a fib, repeat it enough, and sure thing it starts to sound like the truth, and if you're not careful it's liable to become the truth as well.

And so, "Oh, hush, Meebles," she drawled at the gnome. "Shut up for once, will you? You're boring me to death."

Meebles clammed up a bit, though he knew she was telling lies too. It wasn't the hush in surprise, no, she lied every copper as well as he did, mayhaps an edge better. Maybe he told more lies, but they sure were interesting ones.

But no matter, Melicela was a smart one. Once you broke a gnome midsentence, he isn't liable to start a new one up again, not until the next train of thought arrives at the station.
